Maye has started 25 of the last 26 games at Clemson linebacker and has 190 career tackles, including 103 last year. He has 12 career tackles for a loss and five sacks to go with 24 quarterback pressures. In 2009, established a Clemson record in a season with five forced fumbles.
"Brandon has just finished the best golf of his career," said coach Dabo Swinney, according to the team 's report practice. "He had some swelling on Monday and Tuesday after an MRI determined he needed arthroscopic surgery. There is a serious injury and we are optimistic that he could see some time playing against Presbyterian on 11 September.
"He had practiced the entire practice Monday, but had no more swelling. We talked about this with Brandon and the doctors just before practice [Tuesday] and that's when the decision was made."
