Canada (ChattahBox) – Canadian researchers have conducted the first study to examine the effects of marijuana on neuropathic pain through the use of smoking pipes.

The study was conducted by McGill University, and studied the use of marijuana at various percentages of active ingredient THC. Patients used by smoking through pipes in his spare time at home, and recording the use and effect on chronic pain.

Each patient had suffered either a post-traumatic nerve pain (such as through a serious injury) or a post-operative nerve pain. In all cases, the use of marijuana at a rate of 10% of THC is the most beneficial, with less help from the smaller quantity.

They also reported being less temperamental and able to sleep more easily.

The study marks an important milestone to show that cannabis has a marked effect on pain, and can be used as a reliever cheap, easy pain. However, more evidence is needed to study long-term affects.

The study is published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.
