whenever i bend my knees, there is a pain that can only be described as my kneecap trying to escape from my legs! both knees are like this, and while sometimes it isn’t horrible, sometimes it is, and it is never completely gone. i’m only 19 so i doubt it is arthritis, but what do I know? also, i usually run 25 miles a week, but for about a month i’ve stopped, so it is unrelated to exercise. how can i make the pain go away?

I don’t know what is causing your pain exactly, but it does sound like inflammation of something (joint, tendons, muscle?). Do you hear/feel any grating when you bend your knees? If yes, talk to your doctor asap, as you could have some damage in the joint.
Possibly try wearing an elastic brace on your knees and see if that helps.
