I am a 24 year old woman, who is chubby but not incredibly overweight- I am a size 14-16 and I have never experienced knee pain before. I have always found sitting cross-legged to be the most comfortable for me, so this is not a new position for me to be sitting in.. However within the past few days I have begun to experience pain right in my knees when sitting in this position only.
Usually the pain is centered right around my knee cap/joint, occasionally I can feel it in the muscle running up the outside of my thigh.
I do not think it is arthritis because I am so young, no one in my family has arthritis and the pain does not occur when I am standing, or in any other position. I do not think it could be DVT/a blood clot as it occurs in both knees, and I do not display any of the symptoms. There is no noticeable swelling or redness.
Are there any stretches that might make the pain better?
I plan to go to a doctor if it gets worse, but I am in less pain then I was when the problem first arose..
I hope someone can help me out!

I have just started to have this problem lately too, except i’m a teenager. I find sitting cross legged to be most comfortable for me too. I think its just from sitting too long in that position and my knees are getting tired of it. The stretches that I have been doing are just sitting/standing and touching my toes and that really helps. Also I have been sitting up against our sofa and having my legs stretched out in front of me for a while and that helps too.
