I have been taking fairly good care of myself(diet, exercise…) but recently have been eating a little (2-3 pieces/day) halloween candy with my kids. Suddenly my knees and hips have been hurting like crazy! Just wondering, could it be the sugar? Strange.

Absolutely! I’ve been low-carbing for over a year, all my aches and pains have gone away since I started. But whenever I slip up and eat too many carbs, especially sugar, the pain comes back.

    Not arthritis, see your doctor.

  3. mr.answerman says:

Sugar will not do this. Do you have arthritis in both knees and hips? Unless you have RA it sounds like you are too young for this. Perhaps you have been doing things that are making your muscles sore, like raking leaves, or horseback riding.

I completely think it’s the sugar. Here is my reasoning. In your body, you metabolise certain foods into either an alkaline ash or an acidic ash. Sugar is acid forming to your body that can cause inflammation…inflammation anywhere and most people notice in their joints. It takes about 10 days to rebalance your acid/alkaline balance. That is why veggies are our best friends. They turn alkaline in us. You can google acid alkaline foods and get a good list…unfortunately, Im sure there will be plenty of hurting knees and hips the next few weeks!
