I’m experiencing some pain in the right hip and down the right side of my leg. (I believe sciatica pain is at the back of the leg, right?) It’s strange because I only experience this pain at night – for the most part. After I’ve been asleep for at least several hours, if I end up on my back or in the same position for awhile, that seems to cause the pain to flare. Sometimes it’s quite sharp until I start to move….once I get up and going it virtually disappears.
On occasion I am aware of a dull ache in that same area during the day, but that isn’t the norm. I haven’t been able to tie these flare-ups to anything like rainy weather or something that might affect arthritis or bursitis.

I would appreciate any feedack from the friends at Yahoo Answers. If this sounds like something you’ve experienced or you have a clue about what this could be, then please let me know. Thank you.

I have had the same experience but didn’t do anything to correct it until it literally kept me from any activity. Moving about seems to make it fade away but, the problem remains as a chronic state.Becoming acute when resting the muscles and allowing them to relax.

You may need to know, the sciatic nerve splits just below the knee. It does cover the outside of the leg. The femoral nerve takes care of the inner aspect of the leg.

My problem came about resultant to a blown disc at L.5, S.1. I have a condition of bone on bone there now. With a partial spurring. But remain symptom free.

For some reason you have a tilting of the sacrum and thereby have compression of the nerve root on the right side of the spine. This process brings about an inflammatory condition of the soft tissues of the area. The spine must accommodate to that tilting and will eventually create problems further up the spine. Predominantly at the very top of the spine. You can verify the tilting of the sacrum simply by seeing which hip is higher.

I have had symptoms 3 times in the last 50 years and each time I had relief by visiting a doctor of Chiropractic.. Requiring only 3-5 treatments. Perhaps is something you need to consider.

Possibly arthritis, depends if it still feels sore in the morning- check with your family doctor

    Hope this helps
