When I was 18 months I was diagnosed with a dislocated hip. I was put in plaster and all was fine, or so I thought. Now at 37 I am having terrible hip pain which stretches down to my knee. Ive had an X-ray which has shown that my hip is slightly at an angle and may have early arthritis but more worryingly is that there is a small piece of bone that is ‘floating’ around the hip. Has anyone had this and is there anything I can do to relieve the pain until my appointment with the orthopedics’s. Thanks

If you don’t take tylenol or an NSAID (ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin, etc.) on a regular basis, you could try one of those to see if they help. If you’ve already tried tylenol or NSAIDS and find that they don’t work for your pain, the next step would be to ask the doc to prescribe an analgesic that is stronger than tylenol which probably means one with a narcotic. there are lots of them. For the short term until your appointment they should work.
