The pain can be threefold. 1) Arthritis, as in bone or cartilage problems. 2) Muscle-skeleton, as in a muscle problem. 3) Nerve entrapment. As the x-ray revealed all is normal within the joint, seems it is a muscle problem. Best of Luck
