A few months ago all of a sudden I found it hard to walk up the stairs with my left leg. It was like the thigh was weak to lift me. Then I started noticing my left hip was in severe pain trying to go up the stairs. This continues now months later.
Now in addition to to the stair climbing difficulty, BOTH of my hips ache and throbb all day log and especially at night.
My doctors don’t know what it is, I had an MRI of the brain and Nerve Muscle test which both came out negative. I also had a hip xray and I don’t have arthritis of the hip. (Although I do have arthritis and the hands and knees).
Has anyone had hip pain like I describe? What did it turn out to be?
Thanks!

I have a lot of back issues, and I have had it effect my hips in a similar way to what it sounds like you are going through. I see a drop table chiropractor who is also an extremity specialist and he always fixes my problems. Maybe have a lookyloo in your yellow pages for one and make an appointment.
Based on your symptoms it could still be possibly related to arthritis going in to the hip area (an example only). However, one way they can find out is to do an MRI of the hips to see if the arthritis has gone in to your hips too.
I would recommend getting another opinion, preferably from another doctor that does not share the same office of the doctors you currently have seen to see what they think could be going on.
I would also recommend a consultation with an arthritis specialist or an orthopedic surgeon that deals with hip related issues if you haven’t already to see what they think could be going on.
yes i have the same problem on the left side. it radiates from behind my hip to my abdomen, and it throbs. i also have problems with the right hip. all i am ever told is that it is age bs, i know many people older than me that do not have this. i do go to the chiropractor, and do water aerobics,,sit in the hot spa. but nothing really does any good. i also have groin pain on the left side, so i am unable to lift my left leg. at night both hips ache if i lie on either one for more than 1 hour. if you find an answer let me know please. diane hacker
