I just started to take glucosamine, chondroitin, and msm in hopes to relieve the pain in my hip due to arthritis.

I personally have never used it, but I used to work at a pharmacy and G&C is what the pharmacist would recommend over anything else that was available OTC (over the counter).
I also know a few people who have used it, some for others than arthritis, but all of them were pleased with the results.
Good luck and I hope it helps you!
do NOT have arthis
I am lucky and have no arthritis problems, but can tell you many guide dogs have to retire due to the weight of the harness on their shoulders.
These dogs take G&C and it seems to help.
It will take several months until you notice improvement, so hang in there.
It took several months for me to notice the effects. Just give it time and take it religiously. I regret having stopped taking it, and with the humid weather around Philly, my joints are VERY sore.
Glucosamine & chondroitin usually only benefit you if your have knee problems…. MSM helps with all joint pains.
I prefer to take Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements to help with joint pains, and stay flexible through stretching and exercise.
With the ever increasing interest on how to overcome the limitations of living with osteoarthritis, particularly with two major prescription drugs (Vioxx and Bextra) removed from the market, and concerns about long term NSAID usage, two long-anticipated major clinical studies have recently found that Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate work even better than common pain killers!
I have tried all three supplements numerous times for months at a time. Glucosamine and chondroitin did nothing for me, despite my very much wanting them to help. MSM seems to help my skin so I continue to take it.
