A few months ago all of a sudden I found it hard to walk up the stairs with my left leg. It was like the thigh was weak to lift me. Then I started noticing my left hip was in severe pain trying to go up the stairs. This continues now months later.

Now in addition to to the stair climbing difficulty, BOTH of my hips ache and throbb all day log and especially at night.

My doctors don’t know what it is, I had an MRI of the brain and Nerve Muscle test which both came out negative. I also had a hip xray and I don’t have arthritis of the hip. (Although I do have arthritis and the hands and knees).

Has anyone had hip pain like I describe? What did it turn out to be?

Thanks!

Arthritis could still be an issue in that area (an example only) even though the x-ray showed that you didn’t have arthritis. However, based on what you described you could be dealing with something like sciatica (another example only).

I would recommend a consultation with an arthritis specialist to see what they think could be going on. An arthritis specialist can sometimes help with difficult to diagnose cases and find the answer.
