Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a disorder caused by the immune system attacking the synovial joint, causing severe inflammation, pain, and in some cases, disfiguration. The name is derived from a Greek expression meaning “inflamed joints”. Doctors have yet to understand why the immune system attacks the joints without warning.
