You probably have some friends that have purchased one, and heard their positive comments about it. So you are probably considering one too, but unsure of what one to choose seeing as there are so many on offer. This article aims to help you identify the ideal memory foam mattress for you.
There are a few things to keep in mind when you try to make your way through the numerous offers available. High density foam is more expensive than lesser foam, and that is because it offers better support.
Foam density can be split into three groups. The cheaper ones of 2 – 3 lbs, to the mid range 3 – 4.5 lbs to the more ideal high density 5 -6 lbs. More money means more comfort generally.
Mattresses also come in different levels of thickness, 10 and 12 inch being the most common. Mattress thickness starts at 8 inches, rising to 14 inches.
The 12 inch mattress sometimes is offered in standard or “pillowtop” form, the latter replacing a few inches of memory foam with “pillowtop” foam for comfort.
You also need to check the layers of foam in the mattress. You should have two or three layers of foam to help prolong the mattress’ life and ensure your weight is distributed evenly.
Another thing to consider if the mattress’ ability to mold around the contours of your body. The exact thing that memory foam is famous for. Sit or lie on the mattress for a minute or two and see whether you experience this. If you do not, then move onto the next mattress.
Also check that the warranty period is sufficient. Between 10 and 20 years is good.
You may also be able to try the mattress out via a free trial period. Some manufacturers offer this, check to see whether you can get one.
Thanks to the Internet, you may like to shop for your mattress online, to get it at a better price than off the local mattress retailer.
If you feel that a memory foam mattress is too expensive for you, you might like to opt for the cheaper option of a memory foam mattress topper. This sits on top of your existing mattress. But your existing mattress must of course still be in good condition.
